Will the National Government Continue?: Ministers Responds
Cabinet spokesman and Minister Dayasiri Jayasekara said, extending the national government, after the forthcoming local government election will be examined.
He said while response to a question raised by the journalists, at the weekly cabinet news briefing held today (Wednesday).
The national government is sure to last for the next 2020. But it requires a wriiten contract on this. so, we have to examine said Minister Rajitha Senaratne.
There is no doubt that the national government will last until the 2020s, said Minister Gayantha Karunathilake.
The United National Party and the Sri Lanka Freedom Party reached an Memorandum of Understanding for a period of two years was signed on August 21, 2015. The contract was expired on 31st of December 2017.
The two major parties are more interested in establishing separate regime. So the forthcoming local government election will have a great impact on the contract, the political observers predicted.
