Hockey- England beat New Zealand 2-0 to enter World Cup quarterfinals
England secured a place in the quarterfinals of the World Cup taking place in India’s eastern Bhubaneswar city by knocking out New Zealand out of the Hockey World Cup on Monday (December 10).
Will Calnan and Luke Taylor scored for England and helped them register an easy 2-0 win over New Zealand in the first crossover match.
England captain Phil Roper said they had done their homework and the win was result of the execution of their plan.
In the crossover match, France edged past China 1-0 to book a date with world number one Argentina in the quarterfinals.
England will face Olympic champions Argentina in the quarterfinals while France take on Australia on Wednesday (December 12).
