Senegal to host 2022 Summer Youth Olympic Games
Three cities in Senegal will host the fourth edition of the Summer Youth Olympic Games in 2022, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced on Monday (October 8).
The decision was unanimously taken today by a show of hands from members during an IOC session in Buenos Aires. This is the first time the Youth Olympic Games will be held in Africa.
Four African countries Botswana, Nigeria, Tunisia and Senegal were in the running.
Competitions and activities will be held across three cities, including capital Dakar, Diamniadio and Saly on the coast.
Senegal President Macky Sall, who made the journey to Buenos Aires for the historic IOC decision, said he felt honoured to host the games.
