Captains of industry salute Karunanidhi’s acumen
Industrial leaders paid tributes to departed former Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, hailing him as a doyen of industrial development in the State and the country.
At a meeting organised by Southern India Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SICCI) and other industry bodies in Tamil Nadu on Saturday, they recalled their association with the leader on handling various issues.
Heaping praise on the former Chief Minister, they said that he was a statesman, who could easily make the traditional work with the modern.
He was the architect, who laid the foundation for the Information Technology revolution in the State with the pioneering TIDEL Park at Taramani, they said. Be it his versatile handling of crisis situations or grooming the State into an industrial hub, he was a man of excellence, they added.
Chairman Emeritus of SPIC, A.C. Muthiah said it was during Kalaignar’s regime that Tamil Nadu emerged as a notable achiever State and he (Karunanidhi) was always cordial with industrialists in solving major issues pertaining to industries.
Describing him as multifaceted politician and irreplaceable, chairman Thiagarajar Mills, M. Karumuttu T Kannan recalled his acumen in handling various issues brought before him.
