State Minister Vijayakala Maheswaran steps down
State Minister of Child Affairs Vijayakala Maheswaran has resigned from her ministerial portfolio.
The letter of resignation was handed over to the President and the Prime Minister.
The State Minister in her letter expressed that she is stepping down from her post following the accusations directed at her over a statement she made favouring the LTTE.
She noted she is stepping down in order to support ongoing investigations that have been launched by the United National Party.
Minister Harin Fernando meanwhile said State Minister Maheswaran has highlighted that she will remain with the UNP to support its future agendas.
