Sivaji Ganesan’s Birth Anneversary to be observed
The birth anniversaries of thespian Sivaji Ganesan and freedom fighter Ramasamy Padayachi would henceforth be celebrated as a government function, Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami announced in the Legislative Assembly on Friday.
Mr. Palaniswami said that in memory of freedom fighter and crusader for social justice Ramasamy Padayachi, his birth anniversary on September 16 would be celebrated as a government function every year. Likewise, the birth anniversary of the late actor Sivaji Ganesan would be observed as official function on October 1.
In another announcement, he said the Poompuhar showrooms in Chennai, Kolkata, Tiruchi and Thanjavur would be refurbished at a total cost of ₹1.50 crore in an attempt to attract domestic and international tourists.
The Tamil Nadu government would organise an international handicraft exhibition ‘Handifest’ in Chennai, in association with India Trade Promotion Organisation and Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts at a cost of ₹2 crore.
