Iran fans happy with performance, Spain fans disappointed despite victory
Iran supporters were happy with their team’s performance in the 1-0 defeat by Spain on Wednesday evening in Kazan while Spanish fans were disappointed despite the victory.
Iran fans praised the fighting spirit of their team although some thought they needed to attack more.
Spanish supporters were disappointed coming out of the game saying the team generally struggles against defensive teams not allowing them to create a beautiful game.
A fortuitous second half goal by Diego Costa broke a Persian stonewall and lifted Spain to a 1-0 win over a courageous Iran in a nerve-jangling World Cup clash. Iran had a goal disallowed for offside but not before thousands of supporters in the Moscow fan zone burst into rapturous celebration only to realise it was not to be.
Portugal and Spain both have four points in Group B while Iran have three with one match remaining. Portugal play Iran while Spain face Morocco on Monday. Portugal and Spain only require a point each to qualify but should Iran win they would secure a spot in the knockout stages.
