Road blocks and security in high gear as Singapore prepares for Trump-Kim summit
Road blocks were put into place on Saturday (June 9) afternoon as Singapore prepared for the arrival of US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un ahead of their meeting next week.
Security around the St Regis and Shangri-La Hotel near the shopping area of Orchard Road was tightened as the two luxury hotels are said to be where Donald Trump and Kim Jong Un will be staying during their visit. Neither of the hotels have confirmed media reports.
Kim is expected to fly into Singapore‘s Changi airport on Sunday (June 10) ahead of the high-stakes summit with Trump.
Aides and former administration officials said Trump will deploy a mix of charm and pressure to coax Kim into a deal to give up nuclear weapons, trusting his gut instinct over briefing books in his ability to strike an accord.
