Liquor Stores in Sri Lanka under Scrutiny for a Week
A special programme to inspect liquor stores across the island during the Vesak season will commence today.
Accordingly inspections will be carried out until the 3rd of May.
Under the programme while establishments authorized to sell liquor with excise licenses will be subject to inspections, the total liquor supply chain will be subject to inspections as well.
Furthermore in order to maintain and carry out the programme effectively a special 24 hour system will be active at the Department of Excise.
Meanwhile the public is urged to inform authorities if any liquor stores are found to be violating excise regulations by contacting 0112-045-077.
Complaints can also be lodged via fax on 0112-877-882.
All liquor stores island-wide will remain closed on the 29th and 30th of April in view of Vesak Poya.
