North Korean leader meets Chinese senior official, fetes Chinese art troupe
North Korea’s state-run television KRT on Sunday (April 15) released video footage of leader Kim Jong Un meeting Chinese senior diplomat Song Tao and a Chinese art troupe in Pyongyang.
KRT said Kim on Saturday (April 14) “warmly” greeted Song and the Chinese delegation visiting Pyongyang to perform and also expressed his greetings to Chinese President Xi Jinping after Song conveyed Xi’s greetings to Kim.
That contrasts with Song’s last visit to Pyongyang last November, when he was sent as Xi’s special enjoy to discuss the outcome of China’s 19th Party Congress. Song returned to Beijing without meeting Kim.
KRT also showed a video of the art troupe performing on Saturday at the Mansudae Art Theatre and Kim’s wife Ri Sol Ju watching a ballet “Giselle,” performed by the National Ballet of China, but Kim was not present.
