2018 FIFA World Cup Trophy Tour stops in Panama
The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) World Cup trophy arrived in Panama on Friday, as part of the trophy’s world tour before it arrives in Russia, the 2018 FIFA World Cup host-country, in May.
Panamanian President Juan Carlos Varela received the iconic prize from French former star player David Trezeguet at the Panama Pacifico International Airport, where the trophy arrived on a Boeing 737-300 at 11:14 local time.
Trezeguet thanked Varela for receiving the delegation in his country and encouraged Panamanians, who will watch their team compete in a World Cup for the first time, to enjoy the tournament.
Varela said he felt “honored to receive the cup on behalf of all Panamanians.”
