China’s NPC starts annual session
The 13th National People’s Congress (NPC), the highest organ of state power of China exercising the legislative power, opened its first session Monday morning at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
Premier Li Keqiang delivered a government work report to the opening session chaired by Li Zhanshu, executive chairman of the presidium.
Chinese President Xi Jinping, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, was present at the opening meeting. Present at the opening session were also other party and state leaders and nearly 3,000 deputies.
