Ponnalai Road Freed After Two Decades
The Ponnalai – Point Pedro road, which was under control of the army over the past two decades, has been freed today (Tuesday).
People of ponnalai and Point Pedro region have repeatedly demanded to free the road from the army. While President Maithripala Sirisena who visited Jaffna yesterday, promised to free the road.
Accordingly, the road was freed yesterday and transport activities between Ponnalai – Point Pedro ceremonially commenced this morning.
Since 1990, many areas, including the above-mentioned road, were seen as high security zones of Sri Lankan Army.
