Sri Lanka should accede to the 2008 Convention: SLBL
‘Sri Lanka Campaign to Ban Landmines’ urged the Sri Lankan Government to accede to the 2008 Convention on Cluster Munitions. It called the SL government at the Press Conference, which was held in Colombo yesterday.
Sri Lanka should accept the convention while 119 nations have already accepted the convention, they said.
Sri Lanka has been faced international condemnation, as many sources have revealed that Sri Lanka used Cluster bombs, which killed number of people during the Sri Lankan Civil War.
As the nation promised that, the country would become a landmines free nation, Sri Lanka has been signed in OTTAWA agreement as 163rd country in Dec 2017.
