Pharmaceutical billionaire found dead in Canada home: reports
The founder of pharmaceutical company Apotex, Barry Sherman, and his wife, Honey Sherman, were found dead in their Toronto, Ontario home, Canadian media reported on Friday (December 15).
“I am beyond words right now. My dear friends Barry and Honey Sherman have been found dead. Wonderful human beings, incredible philanthropists, great leaders in health care,” Ontario’s health minister Eric Hoskins said in a tweet.
Toronto Police Service Constable David Hopkinson said the circumstances of the deaths was “suspicious.” Police officials did not immediately confirm the identities of the two bodies, as the investigation is in the early stages.
“All of us at Apotex are deeply shocked and saddened by this news and our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time,” the company said in a statement.
Privately held Apotex says it is the largest Canadian-owned pharmaceutical firm, with annual sales of more than C$2 billion.
