The Advisory Committee to Restructure the Domestic Cricket Structure
Amidst the Continuous defeats of Sri Lankan Cricket team, the Advisory Committee formed by the Sports minister, gathered on Thursday at the Ministry of Sports and proposed radical restructuring of the country’s domestic cricket.
Restructuring the SL domestic Cricket structure through strengthening the provincial cricket over sports club tournaments was the major content of the meeting.
Former skippers of Sri Lanka, Aravind de Silva, Mahela Jayawardana and Kumar Sangakara, who are being part among the advisory committee, often demanded an urgent revamping of the weak domestic cricket structure to bridge the unacceptably wide gap between domestic and international cricket.
However, Jayawardena who has repeatedly criticized the fundamentally flawed existing domestic structure wants all 24 clubs to play in one tournament to allow all top players to play against each other.
