US first lady meets South Korean students to promote sports for girls
U.S. first lady Melania Trump attended a launch event on Tuesday (November 7) to encourage increased participation of girls in sports programmes ahead of the Pyeongchang 2018 Olympic Winter Games.
She arrived in South Korea earlier in the day for a two-day trip, where U.S. President Donald Trump and his South Korean counterpart Moon Jae-in are expected to discuss North Korea’s nuclear and missile threats.
Melania Trump said boys and girls should have equal access to sports facilities and equipment during her speech at the “Girls Play 2!” initiative launch, held at the official residence of the U.S. Ambassador to South Korea.
About 75 South Korean students participated in the event and took a group photo with Melania Trump at the end of the event.
