TTV to meet governor, claim support of 19 MLAs
Governor C Vidyasagar Rao has given an appointment to AIADMK leader TTVDhinakaran on Thursday, a fortnight after his supporters, 19 MLAs, met him and expressed lack of confidence in chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami.
Raj Bhavan sources said the appointment was given following a request from Dhinakaran. The rebel leader is likely to submit a representation to the governor to prove the support he has among the 19 MLAs and more. “Governor has acceded to the request and the time will be known on Wednesday,” said an official.
Except for an event in Hyderabad last week, Rao had been in Chennai since August 26 and gave appointments to opposition party leaders, including a DMK-led delegation. In his last meeting with Left and VCK, the governor was quoted as saying that the “ball has not come to his court and the ongoing political turmoil is intra-party rift and does not warrant any action.”
