Japan confirms N.Korea conducted nuclear test
Japan confirmed North Korea conducted a nuclear test on Sunday (September 3) and immediately raised the prospect of further sanctions against the isolated North.
Japan’s Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga said curbs on its oil trade would be on the table.
North Korea was seen to detonate its sixth and most powerful nuclear test and said it had developed an advanced hydrogen bomb that possesses “great destructive power”.
Japanese meteorological officials said the earthquake detected near the North’s test site was around 10 times more powerful than previous detonations.
Residents in Tokyo were concerned about the consequences of its Northern neighbor’s latest provocation.
