Thompson wins 100m at Diamond League in Brussels
Jamaican sprinter Elaine Thompson won the women’s 100m event at the Diamond League on Friday (September 1) in Brussels after missing out on the 200m last month.
In the men’s 200 metres, on-form 20 year-old American Noah Lyles took the title narrowly ahead of Ameer Webb and world champion Ramil Guliyev.
Bahamian Shaunae Miller-Uibo added the 400m to her 200m win in Monaco as she held off Bahrain’s Salwa Eid Naser who ran a national record for the small Arab country.
Russia’s Sergey Shubenkov, running as a neutral, won the 110m hurdles in a line-up that included world record holder Aries Merritt. Shubenkov narrowly beat Spain’s Orlando Ortega for the title.
