Two militants, soldiers killed in separate encounters in Indian Kashmir
Two soldiers and militants were killed in different encounters in the India’s northernmost Jammu and Kashmir state.
On Thursday (August 03) morning, two soldiers were killed and another injured in a gunfight with militants in Shopian district.
Suspecting presence of militants, Army and the police had laid a cordon and had only started with their search operations in Sugan village of Shopian district when the militants opened fire.
The injured were rushed to an Army hospital where two of them succumbed to their injuries.
In another encounter on Wednesday (August 02) night, security forces gunned down two militants in Kulgam district – 70 km from summer state capital of Srinagar.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Kulgam, Shridhar Patil, said the slain militants were identified as Aqib Itu and Sohail Rathar, members of Hizbul Mujahideen outfit.
