Former navy spokesman remanded
Former Navy Spokesperson Commodore D.K.P. Dasanayake, who was arrested by the CID in connection with the abduction and disappearance of 11 youth, has been remanded till July 19 by the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court.
The 11 youth including Tamils had been abducted, illegally detained and then disappeared during the period of 2008 -2009. Dasanayake, who served as the navy spokesman during the war, has been accused of aiding and abetting the incident.
He was arrested Wednesday (12) after an investigation into the abduction which had occurred in Colombo during the war.
Dasanayake, who is currently hospitalised due to his ailing health condition, was brought to the court in an ambulance as he appeared before the court.
