Leader of Opposition and Tamil National Alliance R Sampanthan said the Government of Sri Lanka is bound to implement the UNHRC resolution which was co-sponsored by the State and it cannot be repudiated by parliament as demanded by the Joint Opposition.

Addressing in parliament during the adjourned debate on the UN resolution on Tuesday (June 6) Mr. Sampanthan pointed out entire Sri Lankan forces are not offenders as only a handful had engaged in unlawful activities.

“The UN resolution is only a call for an investigation on human rights violations and not to investigate on any criminal matter” he said.
