PM Theresa May begins campaign in Lancashire
British Prime Minister Theresa May began her day of campaigning at a bakery in Lancashire on Tuesday (June 6).
With two days to go until Britain holds a national election, opinion polls have shown that May’s lead over the opposition Labour party has ebbed over the last three weeks, with some putting her majority into doubt.
The parliamentary election has been upended by a van and knife attack in central London on Saturday (June 3) that killed seven people and left dozens injured.
As interior minister from 2010 to 2016, May oversaw a drop of 20,000 in the number of police officers in England and Wales, which her main opponent, Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn, said should never have happened and warranted her resignation.
