A Pil for a directive to the State government to convert the Poes Garden residence of former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa into a memorial to perpetuate her memory, has been dismissed by the Madras High Court.

A petition had been filed before the Madurai Bench of Madras High Court seeking an identical relief and by an order dated January 12 last, it was dismissed as not maintainable.

“In view of the above, nothing remains to be reconsidered in the present writ petition,” the Bench of justices Huluvadi G Ramesh and R Mahadevan said on Thursday.

In his PIL, S Parthiban of Saidapet submitted that four-time chief minister J Jayalalithaa had introduced several welfare schemes, particularly for the poor, and that it deserved appropriate recognition.
