Novak Djokovic is through to the quarter finals of the Paris Masters after coming from a set down to beat Grigor Dimitrov .

Djokovic earned a 4-6 6-2 6-3 victory over his Bulgarian counterpart as he bids to claim the title for the fourth year in a row.

The win also moves Djokovic a step closer to retaining his world No 1 crown with Britain’s Andy Murray closing on him in hot pursuit.

Murray can steal the top ranking by winning the tournament should Djokovic not get past the semi-finals, or by reaching the final if Djokovic crashes out in the next round.

It certainly wasn’t plain sailing for the Serb in round three though, as Dimitrov took the first set before Djokovic was forced to call a medical time out in the second after twisting his knee.

But Djokovic fought back and dominated the rest of the match to set up a quarter final tie with Marin Cilic on Friday.

Cilic cruised through his third round tie with a 6-3 7-6 straight sets victory over eight seed David Goffin.
