Bus falls 300ft high cliff claims two dead 7 injured

A truck plying from Awissawella to Nuwara Eliya went down a 300ft high cliff at Claranden Place in Avissawella on Wednesday (12) police said.

Two of the critically injured people of nine were pronounced dead on admission to the Nuwara Eliya Hospital.

The victims were identified as 26 and 30-year-old residents of Nuwara Eliya. The post-mortem will be held at the Nuwara Eliya Hospital today (13).

Meanwhile, a motorcycle rider died when his motorcycle collided head on with a lorry in Mahiyangana on Wednesday (12), police said.

The critically injured motorcyclist was pronounced dead on admission to the Mahiyangana Hospital.

The victim was identified as a 40-year-old resident in Uraniya, Mahiyangna. The post-mortem will be held today (13) at theMahiyangana Hospital.
