Jaffna University return to normal

The attendance of students at the Jaffna University has become satisfactory with the return to normalcy after the recent student clash. A majority of students attached to  the Medical, Engineering and Applied Science Faculties have returned as these faculties have started academic activities and the government has guaranteed their security said the Higher Education Ministry in a statement issued yesterday (28th July).

The statement said all students attached to the Agriculture Faculty are currently sitting their examinations which are in progress while all students attached to the Health Science Faculty are engaged in research work and other assignments.

The statement added that all student organisations attached to the Jaffna University have pledged their co-operation towards maintaining the current peaceful situation. The university administration too has taken necessary steps to maintain peace both within and outside the university on the directives of Minister Lakshman Kiriella.
