Just ONE terror suspect is subject to a surveillance order despite fears there are at least 2,000 in Britain, it has emerged.

Terrorism and Prevention Investigation Measures – known as PTIMs – were introduced by new Prime Minister Theresa May, billed as the most effective way to monitor potential extremists. They replaced Control Orders which were axed after being criticized by human rights groups. But despite official estimates that around 2,000 people based in Britain are potential terrorists, only one person is currently subject to a PTIM order.

They allow police and security services to place an individual under curfew if they cannot be prosecuted or deported by the courts. The figure was revealed in a statement published by Parliament before the summer recess.
