US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Nisha Desai Biswal urged the government to resettle people in the released lands with infrastructure and other basic necessities.

Ms.Nisha, speaking at a media brief on her final day of the visit to Sri Lanka, on Thursday (July 14) said the government releases lands of civilians step by step, but on the other hand, facilities such as schools, hospitals, and electricity should be provided and the people should be resettled as quickly as possible.

She noted that the people must be allowed without any restrictions.

The US Secretary also expressed concern over the prevailing Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA).
