Prince Harry met D-Day veterans from across the armed forces on Thursday (June 2) ahead of their annual pilgrimage to Normandy in France, in the building where the momentous invasion was planned.

Harry talked to veterans at Southwick House in Portsmouth in a room where the D-Day landings were planned on a huge map covering an entire wall.

The mansion was the advanced headquarters for the Supreme Allied Commander, General Dwight D. Eisenhower, during his planning for the landings.

The day was arranged by D-Day Revisited, a group that funds and organises visits to Normandy for veterans wishing to revisit the beaches where they fought, and to pay tribute to comrades they left behind in the 1944 invasion.
