Chinese President meets Walt Disney chief in Beijing
Chinese President Xi Jinping met Walt Disney Co Chief Executive Bob Iger on Thursday (May 5) in Beijing.
Xi welcomed Iger and company delegates at the Great Hall of the People before sitting down for a meeting.
Xi congratulated Iger on the upcoming launch of Walt Disney’s theme park in Shanghai, which is slated to open on June 16.
The $5.5 billion resort in Shanghai’s Pudong district is a joint venture between Disney and state-backed consortium Shanghai Shendi Group. As many as 10,000 people have been working on the project, which Disney said was one of the largest foreign investments in the history of China.
Xi said during the meeting that China and the United States should expand cooperation.
Iger expressed his support to boost relations between U.S.-based companies and China.
