Parliamentary sovereignty should not be spoiled – R.Sampanthan
The Leader of the Opposition and the TNA R.Sampanthan said that the matters related to the recent brawl in the House should not be prolonged, adding that measures to be taken to ensure the sovereignty of the parliament of the country.
Mr. Sampanthan stated it during the leaders of the party meeting on Thursday (May 5) headed by Speaker Karu Jayasuriya.
The Parliamentary Committee suspended from parliament attendance United National Party MP Palitha Thewarapperuma and United Peoples Freedom Alliance Parliamentarian Prasanna Ranaweera for one week over the brawl which resulted a parliamentarian to be hospitalized.
The Opposition Leader also stressed steps to be taken to bar such indecent behaviours in parliament in the future.
