Zac Goldsmith, the mayoral candidate of the Conservative party, has praised the contribution of the Tamil people to the City of London where thousands of Tamils live.

Participating in the religious ceremonies at the Shree Ganapathy Temple in London on the Tamil New Year day on Thursday (April 14) Mr. Zac Goldsmith wished all the people of Tamil community to have a prosperous New Year. He started his speech by greeting in Tamil “Vanakkam”.

“Vanakkam. The last time I was here at the Shree Ganapathy Temple, it was during the one year anniversary of this magnificent temple’s Kumbhabeshekham – when I celebrated Thai Pongal with Boris, the current Mayor of London. New Year is the time for families and friends to come together with festive celebration and to look to the future with hope of new beginnings. It is also time to reflect on the incredible contributions the Tamil community makes to our great city across every walk of life and why London is the most successful multi-ethnic society in the world. So to everyone celebrating, I wish you a very happy and prosperous New Year. Iniya Chithirai Puthandu Vazhthukkal.”
