Indian Finance Minister reaches parliament to present budget
Indian Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Monday (February 29) reached parliament to present the third annual budget of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government.
The Cabinet has approved Jaitley’s budget which he carried into the parliament in a briefcase after meeting President Pranab Mukherjee at the latter’s residence.
Jaitley will present the budget at 11.00 a.m. (0530 GMT).
Copies of the budget were brought to the parliament in a lorry with sniffer dogs and security personnel checking each one of them thoroughly before allowing them inside.
Junior Finance Minister, Jayant Sinha, said the budget had taken into account needs of one and all.
“Right now I can just tell you that we have taken into account the needs of everyone and have worked. When the budget is presented at 11.00 am (0530 GMT), you will get to know everything,” said Sinha.
