France’s military communications agency ECPAD on Monday (January 25) released footage of French navy’s flagship the Charles de Gaulle — a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier with a displacement of 43.000 tonnes – and European warships among which the German frigate FGS Augsburg and British frigate HMS ST Albans patrolling in what they said was the Persian Gulf and shot on January 18.

The Charles de Gaulle is on a long-planned deployment that began on November 18.

All ships are part of a task force taking part in operations against Islamic State in Iraq and Syria.

France has intensified air strikes against the group since it claimed responsibility for attacks on bars, restaurants, a stadium and a concert hall that killed 130 people in Paris on November 13.
