Modi to meet Nawaz Sharif in Lahore today
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be meeting his Pakistan counterpart Nawaz Sharif, on Friday, in Lahore.
The Indian Prime Minister made this surprise announcement in Twitter, on Friday.
“Looking forward to meeting PM Nawaz Sharif in Lahore today afternoon, where I will drop by on my way back to Delhi,” Mr. Modi tweeted.
Incidently, today is Mr. Sharif’s birthday. Mr. Modi, in another tweet, said he spoke to Mr. Sharif and wished him.
Mr. Modi, who landed in Kabul on Friday, inaugurated the country’s parliament building that was built by India. He is returning to New Delhi, later in the day.
The NDA government in the Centre, recently decided to restart the India-Pakistan dialogue, which was suspended after the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks.
The decision was announced when External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj visited Islamabad earlier this month.
