Russians protest at Turkey’s embassy against downing of SU-24 jet
Russians protested outside the Turkish Embassy in Moscow on Wednesday over Turkey’s shooting down Russian SU-24 jet a day earlier.
“This is the embassy of murderers, in my opinion. These people are not our honest and trusted partners,” said a protester, who believed Turkey may show “their beastly grin” right now.
And these people are not alone in their anger. President Vladimir Putin has called Turkey’s action a “stab in the back”, accusing Turkish leaders of pursuing a “deliberate domestic policy of supporting the Islamisation of their country over a significant number of years”.
Russia says one of the pilots of the jet was rescued inside Syria. He has appeared on Russian television, refuting Turkey’s claim it warned the plane of its airspace violation before opening fire.
However, military analyst Vasily Kashin believes SU-24’s down will not impact what is already difficult dealings involving Syria.
