Preventing the people from paying tribute to the relatives who lost lives in the war, will affect the reconciliation, said the TNA parliamentarian and the Opposition leader R.Sampanthan.

His statement has arrived while the Martyrs’ day is to be observed tomorrow (Friday, Nov 27).

“If it is true that we are under good governance, our Tamil people have the right to express their feelings and to remember their kinships. To stop the people doing so is a serious human rights violation”, Mr.Sampanthan insisted.

This act of the government will deepen the wounds and the sufferings of our people. I therefore would like to warn the government it would affect the reconciliation, he further said.
