Uproar in Parliament; adjourned for 10 minutes

Parliament adjourned for 10 minutes due to an uproar that arose after an alleged erroneous budget booklet was circulated among the Members of Parliament, media reports confirmed.

The speaker had decided to adjourn parliamentary proceedings by ten minutes as heated arguments broke out in the chambers.

The adjournment was as a result of a confusion surrounding an additional book that was presented instead of the one that consisted the second reading of the Budget.

MP Dinesh Gunwardena raised a question in Parliament as to which book contains the real Budget provisions.

The opposition leader also charged that the provisions detailed in the second book had drastic changes, from the first.

Leader of the house Lakshman Kiriella refuted the charge made by the opposition.

Parliamentary proceedings were thereafter adjourned, as there was a request to provide a clarification
