Sri Lanka had claimed a whitewash of the one-day international series 3-0 and also won both of the preceding Test matches.

However, the West Indies, who had slumped to a 30-run defeat in the opening match of the two-game Twenty20 series, saved their best for last as all-rounder Dwayne Bravo claimed four wickets and Ravi Rampaul three for what in the end was a comfortable victory.

The tourists, without leg spinner Devendra Bishoo and all-rounder Jason Holder, had won the toss and chose to bat at the R. Premadasa Stadium.

Openers Andre Fletcher (23) and Johnson Charles put on 62 for the first wicket, when Fletcher was trapped leg before by left-arm spinner Milinda Siriwardana.

However, Marlon Samuels (1) then lasted only a few minutes when he was run-out chasing a second following a superb direct hit by Shehan Jayasuriya thrown from the boundary, with only three more added to the total.
