We aim to increase economic growth to 10%: President Maithripala

President Maithripala Sirisena states that the government hopes to increase the economic growth from 6 % to 10%. The President stated that the new government expects to create many positive changes and reduce poverty in the country.

President Maithripala Sirisena made these comments during a meeting between Annette Dixon, World Bank Vice President for the South Asia Region yesterday at the President secretariat.

He further made a request of the World bank agent to support Sri Lanka to obtain necessary technological equipment regarding the prevention of the import of illegal drugs which has become a serious threat to the country.

The World Bank Vice President for the South Asia Region mentioned that the World Bank will be rendering their maximum support to Sri Lanka for the success of future plans for development.
