All state hospitals have already been given drugs, medical equipment and other needs to treat Influenza AH1N1 patients, the sources said. Health Services director general Dr. Palitha Mahipala urged the public to avoid crowded places and events, wash hands with soap after returning home and to seek medical treatment for flu like symptoms such as sneezing, cough, headache, sore throat or fever. He said the Medical Research Institute (MRI), Colombo can diagnose Influenza AH1N1 within 24 hours while all state hospitals have been given drugs and instructions on treatment and prevention of the disease. The disease is not bird flu or swine flu, he added.
