Nine-story building collapses in southwest China, casualties unknown
A nine-story building collapsed in southwest China’s Guizhou Province at around 12:00 pm today (Wednesday). No casualties have been reported as of 14:00 pm.
14 people had been rescued out of building. It is still unknown how many people are trapped in the collapsed building located in a housing estate in downtown Guiyang City, capital of Guizhou.
A total of 114 people in 35 households live in the building. The site is inaccessible to large rescue equipment, and so the rescue operation depends on firefighters and sniffer dogs.
Locals said a yesterday’s heavy rain, has caused a landslide on a nearby mountain, which then brought down the building.
