Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe says, government is expected to hold a general election by July this year. In an interview with a media, he has stated that power of the parliament has been strengthened again by the 19th amendment to the constitution.  If we want to have further changes a referendum should be held.

When the international community considers a country as a highly developed democracy, political stability will prevail. Then more foreign investors will start business ventures in such a country.  The Prime Minister therefore, stresses the need to  further empower democratic rule and eradicate corruption.
