Single athletes ends up as a wedded couple in London Marathon

Two athletes started the marathon as single athletes and finished it as husband and wife. Laura Harvey and Paul Elliott got married at St Katharine Docks, near Tower Bridge, then set off on another 13 miles to complete the event. Once they crossed the finish line in front of Buckingham Palace the couple, from south London, went to Brighton to begin their honeymoon.

Paul a human resources adviser- 41, who was raising money for cancer research, commented on his wedding that “Everyone thinks it’s a bit mad but we wanted to do something different”. Laura, 34, a physiotherapist, wore a tennis dress for the event while Paul donned a suit jacket and leggings.

Paul, “We booked a hotel with a hot tub so we can sit in that for about four days to recover”. They will then jet off to the Bahamas to continue relaxing.
